Luis’ family reportedly asked the broken hearted parents not to contact the police in order for the funeral to be organized for the next day, and they insisted that they attend to the service.
The grieving parents agreed they did not initially suspect Luis because he had been in a relationship with their daughter for 12 years, including a year of marriage.
However, Lisbeth’s mother, Kathy, grew suspicious when she noticed an injury to Luis’ eye that he alleged during a robbery attempt.
Kathy was later approached by her daughter’s friend, who claimed Lisbeth had been insulted and physically abused by Luis, but refused to tell her family.

Kathy told El Comercio that she walked away in the wake and reported the incident to authorities who exhumed the victim’s body.
“They manipulated my daughter’s body to create the scene,” Kathy told Metro Ecuador. after reporting the incident. “You didn’t call 911, what I now know was legal process.”
When the mother spoke about the discovery of her daughter’s body, she said, “I jumped on her and tried to revive her, but I found that she was already stiff and all the muscles were hardened.”

An autopsy revealed that Lisbeth died of bruises and stab wounds on the top of her head, which were then reportedly covered by glueing them together with super glue

An autopsy revealed that the victim had died of bruises and stab wounds to the top of her head, which were then reportedly covered by glueing them together with super glue.
“I complained to the coroner about shaving my girl’s head. At that moment he pointed out the wounds that would have killed them and the wounds they were taped on, certainly with the intention of covering the cuts, ”Kathy told local news website Extra.
Authorities called the case a “violent death” and considered Luis a prime suspect.
Police chief Francisco Hernández said Lisbeth’s injuries were hard to come by accidentally. He added, “We are treating this problem as if it were a violent death.”
