MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. – An inmate who was in the hospital rose to the ceiling to escape custody, according to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office.
Inmate Jeffrey Campbell was rushed to the hospital around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
While he was in the hospital, he was able to lock himself in a bathroom, then remove several ceiling panels and climb into the metal structure in the ceiling, MPs said.
MPs, along with Plymouth Police and Indiana State Police, reportedly responded to the hospital and located the inmate in the ceiling above the emergency room.
Campbell voluntarily refused to come down but was arrested with ladders, reports say.
A report will be sent to the Marshall County Attorney to review the additional fees.
