After the deep freeze, the heat came when Dina Asher-Smith destroyed the field in Germany on Friday evening to start her Olympic season.
At her first competition meeting in 16 months, Asher-Smith set her personal best of 60 meters with a 7.08 second victory at the World Indoor Tour event in Karlsruhe. Cobwebs? Nothing the same.
While the race in March was just a warm-up step towards the European Indoors and these championships only serve as a preparatory exercise for the Olympic Games, Asher-Smith’s times in Germany were remarkable.
