The President of the European Commission also admitted that the rollout was still not “where we want to be” in a humiliating speech in Brussels.
However, it defended the attempt to achieve a unified approach for the 27 Member States, despite comparing it to a “tanker” versus a British “speedboat”.
UK government numbers last night showed that 12,646,486 people have now received initial bumps, with another 516,392 having their booster.
In contrast, the EU as a whole has administered fewer than 18 million doses to its population of around 450 million people.
