The Vatican is calling for responses from Instagram following an embarrassing social media mishap in which the Pope’s report “liked” a racy image of a bikini model.
Eagle-eyed users noticed the papal “like” beneath a photo of Natalia Garibotto in an insightful schoolgirl outfit entitled, “I can teach you a thing or two”.
The episode caused hilarity online, but the Vatican says it is seeking an explanation from Facebook’s own platform alongside an investigation at the Holy See.
“We can rule out that the ‘like’ comes from the Holy See and has turned to Instagram for an explanation,” a spokesman for the Vatican told the Guardian.
