A UK HR manager in Dubai was told she could face a £ 100,000 fine on top of a two-year prison term for berating her roommate in a WhatsApp message.
The 31-year-old woman met with the police chief in charge of her case today in hopes of resolving the complaint filed by her former Ukrainian roommate.
She is being charged with cybercrime under UAE strict laws for writing “f *** you” when the couple rowed on WhatsApp for using a dining table while locked.
The Gloucestershire Briton was arrested while leaving Dubai over the weekend when she was informed of the complaint the roommate refused to withdraw.

The 31-year-old, who asked not to be named, says she’s running out of money, sleeping on a friend’s sofa and banging her head against a wall.
She also fears that she will lose her new job in the UK as she will be stranded for weeks until a flight ban is lifted.
Speaking exclusively to MailOnline, she said, “This is just a nightmare and the thought of losing my new job is too much.
“I have no apartment and no job and no money. My visa to stay here expires on February 12th and the police just don’t seem to understand.
“I bump my head against a wall. Nobody cares.’
The Briton, who asked not to be named, was told that the criminal case against her would not resume until her cell phone was examined by police forensic teams in Dubai.
She admitted to sending a “F *** you” message during a series about using a dining table last October.
However, prosecutors have yet to bring a case as they are waiting for a forensic report on their phone.
The woman said, “You can’t send a report until forensics have created the report on my phone, even though I said the word and didn’t deny it. The prosecutors still need the report, but nobody knows when it will happen. I call every day. ‘
“I have no idea what’s going on, what’s next, and how long it might take.”
The Briton had already sent her things home and secured a place on one of the limited flights when she was pulled aside by airport authorities.
Then she was told she could not go and that there was a police case against her.
