Touting its willingness to loan customers money so they can multiply their returns just like Wall Street pros, online broker Robinhood even compares investing with money borrowed to the thrill of riding a motorcycle. What the company doesn’t say is that its lending strategy put customers – who tend to be younger and less experienced in the market – in financial danger even before many piled into the stocks of struggling video game retailer GameStop in January.
