Peter Crouch has asked Liverpool to sign a center-back next month as they cannot rely on their current younger options.
The Reds are without first choice Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez after both sustaining serious knee injuries at the beginning of the season, while boss Jürgen Klopp has also confirmed that Joel Matip will be out for the next three weeks with an adductor injury.

Speaking to Amazon Prime after the Anfield side’s goalless draw in Newcastle in the final game of 2020, Crouch insisted the Reds couldn’t rely on the youths and also advocated a move for a midfielder.
“I think reaching halfway in January is crucial,” said Crouch.
“I think they looked at it, I think they identified people, behind the scenes they will work on it.
“You can’t rely on the young boys and a midfielder in the middle.”

Jürgen Klopp has also confirmed that Joel Matip will be absent for the next three weeks due to an injury
