WandaVision Director Matt Shakman has raised speculation that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen might have a cameo on the show.
Elizabeth Olsen, one of the two lead actresses on the program with Paul Bettany, is Mary-Kate and Ashley’s younger sister. WandaVision borrows from the world of classic American sitcoms like Full house – in which Mary-Kate and Ashley appeared as children.
This has sparked some rumors – and hope from fans – that Mary-Kate and Ashley might appear in WandaVision.
However, Shakman appears to have poured water on this speculation. In a recent interview with diversityhe was asked, “Have you considered asking Lizzie to ask her sisters to make a cameo on the show?”
The director replied: “For us, we have faithfully reproduced the style of the shows with authenticity. It wasn’t about parody, tribute, or parody. It was really about telling the story of Wanda and Vision. “
Storytelling takes precedence over cameos. “Because of that, we focused on our characters, who are the best actors, to bring those characters to life, rather than trying to figure out a way for Bob Newhart to get around,” added Shakman.
Earlier this month, Elizabeth Olsen was asked about a possible transition between them WandaVision and Full house during a humorous section Jimmy Kimmel Live. “That would be incredible,” she mused. “It’s very meta, the whole thing.”
The first two episodes of WandaVision are now available on Disney +.
