Eventually the 100 villagers decided that enough was enough. The minutes of the council published yesterday showed that after almost 1,000 years of existence, the village was called Fugging from January 1st.
Mayor Andrea Holzner said: “I confirm that this was actually decided by the local council. I won’t say more about it. ‘
The village, part of the municipality of Tarsdorf, north of Salzburg and near the German border, has long been a funny figure in the English-language media, happily reporting local outrage over the removal of signs.
In 2018, the pornographic website Pornhub announced that it was offering free premium access to residents of F *** ing and cities with names like Titz (Germany) or Big Beaver (Pennsylvania) in the US.
