Napoli, who played in Argentine style jerseys in homage to the late Diego Maradona, destroyed AS Roma 4-0 in Serie A on another poignant evening on Sunday.
Lorenzo Insigne gave Napoli the lead in the 30th minute with a great free kick worthy of the Argentine himself and ran halfway across the pitch to collect and kiss a shirt with Maradona’s name on it.
Fabian Ruiz, Dries Mertens and Matteo Politano scored three more goals in the second half to give Roma their first on-pitch defeat in all competitions. Their only other loss was a loss for using an ineligible player against Verona.

As with all other Serie A games, the game was preceded by a minute’s silence for Maradona, who had seven notable seasons in Napoli, and the game was paused for a round of applause at the tenth minute.
Maradona died of a heart attack on Wednesday at the age of 60.
Napoli, who wore a special kit with light blue and white striped jerseys reminiscent of Argentina’s stripes, moved up to fifth with 17 points ahead of Roma due to the goal difference.

After a 3-1 home defeat against AC Milan a week ago, coach Napenn was pushed into the public eye after a 3-1 home defeat against AC Milan.
The Naples-born Insigne was also involved in the second goal in the 64th minute as he ran on to Mario Rui’s pass, stormed forward and found Ruiz, who hit with a low shot from the edge of the area that went through the legs of a defender.
Mertens grabbed a rebound and added the third after Mirante failed to clear Eljif Elmas’ shot and Politano added the finishing touches with a solo attempt, snaking through the Roma defense and Mirante moving out of the way to into an empty one Meet network.
