- But the Uruguayan midfielder has been fighting for regular minutes this season

- Monaco is at the top of a queue that includes Valencia and Lazio
Monaco are the reported leaders to sign Lucas Torreira this month. The Uruguayan is fighting for the playing time currently on loan from Arsenal at Atletico Madrid.
The 24-year-old moved to Spain on a loan deal on the same day that Thomas Partey moved the other direction to north London. However, he struggled to play for Diego Simeone and made only two LaLiga appearances this season.
Arsenal are unhappy with this as they believe the player will need minutes. Therefore, alternative options are being explored for the remainder of the season and Ligue 1 club Monaco are best positioned to close a deal before the Monday deadline, according to the Spanish outlet AS.
