Lionel Messi’s Barcelona deal will cost the financially troubled club a whopping £ 492million
The number was revealed by the Spanish newspaper El Mundo, which outlined Barcelona’s financial troubles
Messi has been guaranteed € 138m (£ 122m) gross salary per season under the leaked contract.
The leak is likely to upset Messi’s camp and further destabilize Barcelona as the club faces elections originally scheduled for last week but now postponed to March 7th due to the coronavirus.
It comes days after the club released its 2019-20 financial report, which revealed gross debt of 1.2 billion euros (1 billion pounds).
