It started with a text message. ‘Please pick up. Very important’. It was a Tuesday afternoon in late October and I had been working quietly on my phone – I hadn’t noticed the four missed calls from my ex-partner Matt.
My stomach jumped. Matt had been looking after our four year old son Milo for the past few days. Did he have an accident? I called him. “I just tested positive for coronavirus,” it blurted out. “I have to self-isolate so my father can bring Milo back to your home for the next hour.”
It was the last thing I expected of him – and the start of a six-week ordeal that saw my son and I test negative first and then positive days later.
