Graeme Souness has the shoe in Liverpool as he insists that they haven’t handled pressure well, have no “sparkle” and are a “shadow” of their old selves … as he admits that the players “don’t of the challenge have grown “after Burnley’s loss
- Liverpool suffered a 1-0 home loss to Burnley on Thursday night
- It is the first time that the Reds have lost 69 home league games
- Graeme Souness described the youngest form of the red as sparkling and flat
- The Sky expert also claimed Liverpool’s players weren’t ready for the title fight
Graeme Souness claimed Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool were unable to defend their Premier League title after losing 1-0 at home to Burnley.
Klopp’s reigning champions were beaten for the first time in 68 home division games when Sean Dyches stole a shocking Anfield win from Clarets thanks to Ashley Barnes’ late penalty.
This means that Liverpool have not scored a goal in four straight league games and only once in their last five games. This puts them six points behind leaders Manchester United, who have played the same number of games.

According to Graeme Souness, Liverpool players are not ready for the title fight in the Premier League

The Sky expert claimed that the reds no longer had any shine and could not handle pressure
Souness told Sky Sports after the defeat: ‘Liverpool have been a shadow of the team we’ve seen for the past three years. They were flat when they got the ball. Every time they got into the last third, the delivery hit the first man, if not the second man.
“They lacked quality from back to front. It’s a disappointing night for her. Jürgen has some considerations to make. You are shot and you are 18 games in. There is no twinkle about them.
‘This will be a test for them. Jürgen will find out what they have in the dressing room. They are European champions, Premier League champions, expectations are right on their shoulders and they haven’t handled it very well.
