Globally, more than 100 MILLION people have had COVID-19 and over 2.1 million have died since the first case was reported 391 days ago

• The number of coronavirus cases worldwide exceeded 100 million as of Tuesday afternoon
• More than 2.1 million people have died of COVID-19 worldwide
• The first reported case was a little over a year ago in China on December 31, 2019
• Wuhan, where the virus emerged and became the first epicenter of the pandemic, is now almost back to normal
• The US is now the hardest hit country in the world, with more than a quarter of all cases worldwide and over 423,000 deaths
• The UK is just behind with 3.7 million cases and more than 100,000 deaths
• Health officials around the world promised vaccines would halt the pandemic
• However, the rollout is slow: 68.1 million doses are being administered worldwide, and new, more contagious variants threaten to reduce the effectiveness of shots
