MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) –Former Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton announced on Sunday night that he had married a woman 41 years his junior.
“After twenty years of bachelor’s degree I am now a married man!” Dayton wrote on Facebook.
He tied the knot with 32-year-old Ana Orke, now Ana Dayton, who previously worked for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign in 2008 and Dayton’s gubernatorial campaign in 2010. After losing contact, the two met again a few years later in Minneapolis.
“I know our age gap (I’m 73; she is 32) will surprise many of you,” Dayton wrote. “The truth is, the feelings Ana and I felt about our age difference surprised us at first. But when we first met, we found that the love that binds us is much deeper and more meaningful than the years that separate us. “
Dayton described his wife as “smart, compassionate, tough, funny, and impossibly good at Scrabble!”
