Janet Jackson hopes to capitalize on crypto madness

Now Janet Jackson hopes to benefit from NFT Crypto Craze as she celebrates the 35th anniversary of her album Control

Singer Janet Jackson has announced plans to release non-fungible tokens

Janet Jackson is the latest celebrity to join ‘Crypto-Mania’ as she celebrates the 35th anniversary of her album Control.

The singer’s album was first released in 1986 and includes the singles Nasty and When I Think of You. Jackson – Michael’s younger sister – has announced plans to release non-fungible tokens (NFTs) – unique computer files associated with photos, songs, artwork, and other media that some consider to be the digital answer to collectibles.

They exist on the blockchain, an online ledger system that records transactions publicly and can be freely traded. In the past few months, NFTs have become increasingly popular. People pay hundreds of thousands of pounds for those related to pixelated artwork and even tweets.

Jackson (pictured) has partnered with gaming and augmented reality company RTFKT to release a series of NFTs to celebrate Control’s anniversary.

Her brother Randy said, “Technology through NFTs is creating a new way for artists to express their art in innovative ways around the world.”

Rocky Mudaliar, President of RTFKT added, “Our partnership will bring rare and highly interactive experiences to the blockchain and social media.”
